Constructive Ideas.

A lot of people love the idea of making things out of wood, but are put off by thinking that they will just end up making a mess of it.

When I was at school, I absolutely detested woodwork. It held no interest for me whatsoever. I am not too sure how it came about, but when I got older things completely changed. I suddenly loved the idea of making all sorts of things. These varied from shelves to TV units.

I decided to just have a go at making something. I can’t even remember what the first thing I made was, but the important thing was I really enjoyed doing it. After that I would spend hours drawing plans of my ideas before going off to my shed to get on with them.

Like everything else, DIY is something that you learn about as you go along. I have made all sorts of things and I have made many mistakes as well, but I know a lot more now than I once did.

If you have the slightest interest in making things then don’t be put off by thoughts of failure. We all make mistakes; it is the best way of learning. Start off with a small project and see how you get on. It may turn out far better than you expected.

Have you guys booked your tickets on the ferry yet? We will meet outside charing cross at 10 o’clock. Then go from there. If you can get a room in Hotel Monte Carlo, most of us should be staying there. If not we will only be in Paris for one night so any other hostel will do.
